Girls in ICT Drive

Program Overview

At Wootlab Foundation, we believe that every girl should have the opportunity to explore technology, develop digital skills and see herself as a future creator, innovator and leader in the digital economy. This belief continues to shape our commitment to advancing gender inclusion and expanding access to technology for young people. Through our Girls in ICT Drive, we engaged female students across multiple secondary schools in the Federal Capital Territory, creating opportunities for them to learn about technology in an engaging and practical way. The drive brought together interactive conversations, coding activities, digital games and problem-solving challenges designed to introduce students to the possibilities within ICT while making technology accessible and enjoyable. Beyond learning about digital tools, the girls were encouraged to think about technology as a space where they can create solutions, pursue careers and contribute to their communities. The sessions also highlighted the achievements of women in technology and innovation, giving students relatable examples of women who are already building, leading and creating within the sector. The enthusiasm of the students demonstrated the value of early exposure to technology. For many young girls, having the opportunity to interact with digital tools, learn about different technology careers and hear the stories of women making an impact can be an important first step towards seeing themselves in the industry. The Girls in ICT Drive reflects Wootlab Foundation’s broader commitment to Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5), and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8). We recognise that bridging the gender gap in technology requires more than providing access to digital skills. It requires creating environments where girls can build confidence, discover their potential, access positive role models and pursue opportunities without being limited by gender. As we continue our work to expand digital inclusion, Wootlab Foundation remains committed to ensuring that more girls have the knowledge, confidence and opportunities to participate meaningfully in the digital future.
